Cardiovascular load is an estimate of how hard your heart is working. A lower cardiovascular load at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness.
Cardiovascular Load
How is Cardiovascular Load calculated?
Cardiovascular Load is the combination of two metrics:
Heart Rate - how fast your heart is beating
Cardiac Exertion - an estimate of how much force your heart is applying on each beat
Why does it matter?
The faster your heart beats and the more force it applies, the harder it is working.
During exercise, your heart is expected to work harder. However, while at rest, a lower cardiovascular load is preferred.
This is because over time, an increased workload can lead to wear and tear on the heart and a higher possibility of cardiovascular disease like Heart Failure or Stroke.
How can I lower my Cardiovascular Load while at rest?
Living a healthy lifestyle can improve your cardiovascular fitness and reduce your cardiovascular load.
